Gothik Radio Black Ice - Terrible Birds

One of the best Gothic Rock / Deathrock releases I think. Should be a classic already! Black Ice creates a bleak sound filled with post –punk wrath and creepy slow tracks (like “The stillness”) that leaves you wonderfully chilled just asking for more and waiting for the next track with bated breath. And when it comes it is filled with amazingly edgy vocals, scathing and brutal lyrics belting out of angular music, with often staccato drum attacks creating a vicious rhythm chased by a thin jangly guitar and snappy bass like the title track “Terrible Birds”.
Savaged and ravishingly beautiful in an ugly foul way!

Gothik Radio Bloodsucking zombies from outer space- … see you at Disneyland

Mixing traditional Misfits calamity with smatterings of ska, shockabilly, goth, blues and assorted electronica. Sounds like a recipe for disaster but no, for BZFOS this actually works. Harsh singing that sounds like a man uttering his last words, catchy choruses, violent guitars and thundering drums inevitably has your foot tapping and looking for a mosh pit, and just when you get too comfortable they will change the music to bring just another mad aspect they can draw on…blessed are the insane!
“Moonlight Sonata” I just love! Filled with so many great tracks “Eaters of the Dead”, “Attack from planet Transilvania” , “C Minor-the suicide waltz” this is a great release and I am sure many more will come!!

Gothik Radio Black Atmosphere – Descending Faith

"Promising Roses" starts with despair and one feels the sense of desolation as it is dished up on thick, well-sprung bass. The vocals grow in clarity and power as the song starts to flail with a stirring, powerful chorus. Descending into a spiral of madness and passion. ‘Embrace’ has some great guitar work and lots of gloomy, spirited space and excellent singing. ‘Seeking Sanctity’ starts with an almost innocent sounding voice, introducing the song but is soon joined by more manic voices very soon. Good guitar work and deep bass creating great atmospheres! The title track has great deep bass with guitar friction, keyboard moments and brilliant, bickering vocals.
This is definitely recommended and hopefully a new album is on the cards soon!

Gothik Radio Burning Image - 1983-1987

Fusing the UK Batcave sound with SoCal's '80s-era death rock gives birth to release of Burning Image. This compilation includes the band's impossible-to-find single "The Final Conflict" b/w "Burning Image", along with a few other unreleased demos and a few tracks recorded in 2003. While I found it hard to get into the music from the first listen or to be captured by it, which I really wanted to be, it was not until the third or fourth listen that “The Lower Walks” actually started growing on me.The last three tracks "Gargoyles", "Anytime, Anywhere" and "Temptation". Were recently recorded so have much better sound quality picking up right where they left off, delivering a spooky smattering of twisted goth and animated punk.
I am not sure about this, but try it and see for yourself.

Gothik Radio Bohemien - La Parata del Circo

After the fantastic release of 'Danze Pagane' , Bohemien returns with this EP that essentially just continues where the previous one has left off.Filled with the same high quality gothik rock of the previous album. Displaying the same remarkable creativity and firmness in sound many of us were so taken by.
This EP has four tracks of classic gothik rock in the vein as say Rozz and of course Itialian gods Madre Del Vizio etc. but still Bohemien offers us something refreshingly new.Cutting guitars and a solid rhythm section, with the amazing keyboard layers creates a sound that threatens to verge atmospherically on the Horrific.
The organ on the title track is superb. "Anemia" is a great song, with keyboards that do not overpower, pounding percussion, and female backup vocals. "Nell'ora Dell'enigma" comes in with more spooky organ, and then urgent vocals with great guitar bridges. "Specchio" is another fine track with the bass holding everything together and utterly edgy guitar.
Also included are two more versions of 'Anemia", one in English and a remix. I can't wait to hear more from Bohemien and for these veterans of the goth scene to release the next full release.
Bound to please almost everyone that is enjoys gothik rock and deathrock.
Bohemien is highly recommended!

Gothik Radio Black Ice - Myopia

After the formiddable Terrible Birds, Black Ice returns again with a recording that could be termed a classical album. Classical in the sense that it returns to some very well known ideas for them i.e the staccato drums, conjuring vocals and full sounding bass guitar. Add the postpunk guitar to this witches cauldron and you have the great sounding Black Ice - Myopia
Here I must mention that the voice this time rounds explores some more diverse elements then in Terrible Birds and one can this time round fully appreciate the talent and quality of this vocalist.
All sorts of subtle and often processed soundscreep into the music to amalgamate into a rather sinister and theatrical sound where the sounds of the batcave and deathrock are coupling with a good measure of some traditional gothik elements.
Later on though they do become rather experimental with soundscapes that seemed to have been plucked from dispair and darkness. Intelligent lyrics keeps this very versatile band at the fore front of this genre

In the Dark is a great track with the voice truly carrying the song, already the familiar Black Ice sound is evident from the sparse drums and bass. The haunting guitar hovering just in the back ground. So beautifully written. but such hauntingly beautiful melodies
Signals has to be one of my favourite tracks.Just nothing wrong with it.Such a feeling of emptiness and dispair surrounds this track, you can not help but feel empathy. But this is turned around to anger and relief in a way as the song progresses. Brilliant!
Imitation / Imagination, My Fever are slightly more experimental but also stand out.Beautiful catchy melodies and almost a feeling of the post apocalyptic in this.
I strongly recommend this release!
