Kooper Kain - Turning cities to salt
Before anything the musicians are definitely good at what they do and Kooper Kain is a group of seasoned pros. Culling together various musical styles- Deep, driving drums, swirling electronics and minimal guitars all meld to create a solid platform for the soaring, Bowie-esque vocal style of Kooper Kain.
Icy Stars really sets the environment for what you can expect from them. Certainly the vocalist pulls it off and musically there is nothing bad I can say about this album…you can expect to hear a slightly more gothic version of U2 meets Simple Minds perhaps. Although the gothic rock elements are not as frequent. However if Sexgang, Cinema Strange or even Dreadful Shadows is your thing, this will not be for you.
If you like thoughtful, emotional darkwave with minimal guitars, lots of keyboard and fantastically executed vocals – this is for you.
Tracks that stood out for me: Icy Stars, 80 years of dirt, Too far gone and Red Satin Rivers
