Gothik Radio Kooper Kain - Turning cities to salt

Before anything the musicians are definitely good at what they do and Kooper Kain is a group of seasoned pros. Culling together various musical styles- Deep, driving drums, swirling electronics and minimal guitars all meld to create a solid platform for the soaring, Bowie-esque vocal style of Kooper Kain. Icy Stars really sets the environment for what you can expect from them. Certainly the vocalist pulls it off and musically there is nothing bad I can say about this album…you can expect to hear a slightly more gothic version of U2 meets Simple Minds perhaps. Although the gothic rock elements are not as frequent. However if Sexgang, Cinema Strange or even Dreadful Shadows is your thing, this will not be for you.
If you like thoughtful, emotional darkwave with minimal guitars, lots of keyboard and fantastically executed vocals – this is for you.
Tracks that stood out for me: Icy Stars, 80 years of dirt, Too far gone and Red Satin Rivers

Gothik Radio Katzenjammer Kabarett - Katzenjammer Kabarett (Promo)

As synths tinkle like a music box, those creepy damn ones, like a fairy tale, like a grand introduction to nightmare about to begin. You almost feel like swooning, almost and then suddenly guitars and drums kick you in the face with the type of vocals that remind you immediately of Kas Product as “Katzenjammer Kids” start. Powerful stuff this! Followed by the piano-introduced “Gemini Girly Song”. Great! Remarkable tracks are also “Eve At The Mansion” with its very Deathrock inspired drums but interesting breaks and could remind one of Cinema Strange at times. "Broken Dolls" is their most conventional song as it seeps and sulks with a sense of truculent aggression. How stylish this band is, how unusual, how entrancing!
This is Cabaret meets Deathrock meets great story telling in a sleazy smoke filled lounge! This is a true representative of the new generation, because the future lies with imagination not adherence to known formulae.
